Narrative:

Cleared by lgb ground to taxi to runway 25L at D. Complied. Tower on 119.4 advised me to hold short of runway 25L for landing traffic. Shortly after, tower on 119.4 asked if I could accept runway 30 for takeoff. I advised I could. I was then instructed to cross runway 25L and taxi into position for runway 30. From the position at D, the logical move was to taxi north across runway 25L which would place me directly on runway 30 at the intersection of runway 25L and runway 30. I might have taxied on runway 25L nwward on D to J, then back eward to runway 30 and held short, if that was my tower instruction. Instead, I found myself sitting on the junction of runway 25L and runway 30 being told to hold position. I was then told to contact tower on 120.5. There was at least a 10 second delay in the tower response on 120.5, leaving me on runway 30 without further direction, wondering if I had just conflicted with other traffic. Better and clrer instructions and tower controller coordination would have improved the situation. When the tower finally responded on 120.5, I was cleared for immediate takeoff on runway 30.

Title: RPTR WAS CONFUSED BY CLRNC TO TAXI INTO POS ON RWY 30.

Narrative: CLRED BY LGB GND TO TAXI TO RWY 25L AT D. COMPLIED. TWR ON 119.4 ADVISED ME TO HOLD SHORT OF RWY 25L FOR LNDG TFC. SHORTLY AFTER, TWR ON 119.4 ASKED IF I COULD ACCEPT RWY 30 FOR TKOF. I ADVISED I COULD. I WAS THEN INSTRUCTED TO CROSS RWY 25L AND TAXI INTO POS FOR RWY 30. FROM THE POS AT D, THE LOGICAL MOVE WAS TO TAXI N ACROSS RWY 25L WHICH WOULD PLACE ME DIRECTLY ON RWY 30 AT THE INTXN OF RWY 25L AND RWY 30. I MIGHT HAVE TAXIED ON RWY 25L NWWARD ON D TO J, THEN BACK EWARD TO RWY 30 AND HELD SHORT, IF THAT WAS MY TWR INSTRUCTION. INSTEAD, I FOUND MYSELF SITTING ON THE JUNCTION OF RWY 25L AND RWY 30 BEING TOLD TO HOLD POS. I WAS THEN TOLD TO CONTACT TWR ON 120.5. THERE WAS AT LEAST A 10 SECOND DELAY IN THE TWR RESPONSE ON 120.5, LEAVING ME ON RWY 30 WITHOUT FURTHER DIRECTION, WONDERING IF I HAD JUST CONFLICTED WITH OTHER TFC. BETTER AND CLRER INSTRUCTIONS AND TWR CTLR COORD WOULD HAVE IMPROVED THE SIT. WHEN THE TWR FINALLY RESPONDED ON 120.5, I WAS CLRED FOR IMMEDIATE TKOF ON RWY 30.
