Narrative:

When I arrived at the gate we were informed that a different aircraft would be used for our flight. The replacement aircraft was at the hangar. I elected to ride along in the aircraft that was being taxied to the hangar. Although I sat in the right seat I had no duties to perform. I would not receive flight pay or credit for this taxi operation. At one point when we were holding short at runway 27R the ground controller asked that the plane expedite across the runway. After power was added the plane was unable to successfully complete the turn on the other side of the runway. When the aircraft left the runway the left main gear collapsed.
