Narrative:

Fuel quantity indicator for left wing tank indicated 1700 pounds more than tank could hold. I believe fueler filled wing tank to capacity then filled the center to bring total to minimum dispatch (61000 pounds). Cockpit check of totalizer showed proper fuel quantity. Indicator error was found in cruise flight. Even with the 1700 pound discrepancy in fuel there was enough fuel to reach destination, with alternate fuel and reserve plus approximately 1 hour plus holding fuel if necessary. WX was forecast good. Flight proceeded to destination where indicator error was written up for maintenance. A closer inspection of quantity indicators, other than just the totalizer, would have caught this error.
