Narrative:

During climb at FL310 had compressor stall on #2 engine. Spooled down, tried 3 relights, would not restart. Called center and requested FL260. Descended and turned toward den. Proceeded direct den. Briefed flight attendant. Den was landing runway 26, I wanted runway 35R. Den said I would have to declare emergency to get runway 35R. I did and landed 35R. Landing was uneventful.
