Narrative:

Descending into rno on vectors for ILS 34 cleared to 9200 ft descending through approximately 9600 ft. GPWS activated in terrain mode. Executed GPWS escape maneuver and climbed to 10500 ft and GPWS silenced. Advised approach control of GPWS warning, was given further vectors toward the airport and descent below cloud layer, airport was picked up visually and a visual approach and normal landing was accomplished.

Narrative: DSNDING INTO RNO ON VECTORS FOR ILS 34 CLRED TO 9200 FT DSNDING THROUGH APPROX 9600 FT. GPWS ACTIVATED IN TERRAIN MODE. EXECUTED GPWS ESCAPE MANEUVER AND CLBED TO 10500 FT AND GPWS SILENCED. ADVISED APCH CTL OF GPWS WARNING, WAS GIVEN FURTHER VECTORS TOWARD THE ARPT AND DSCNT BELOW CLOUD LAYER, ARPT WAS PICKED UP VISUALLY AND A VISUAL APCH AND NORMAL LNDG WAS ACCOMPLISHED.
