Narrative:

After cruising at FL350 for about 15 mins, a vibration was felt. Shortly afterwards, the #2 N1 started fluctuating plus/minus 10 percent. I closed the #2 power lever and requested a lower altitude. In the descent to FL200 the crew shutdown the #2 engine according to the flight operations manual. After leveling at FL200, contacted dispatch via telephone patch and received a WX update. After evaluating all the data, I determined that the best place to land was iah. A 2 engine landing was made. The plane was taxied to the gate where the flight was terminated.
