Narrative:

On my way back to den after encountering snow storm in flight path to woley VOR in wy, I turned back to billings. About 45 mi southwest of billings, I noticed a snow cell to the west. I lost my visual sight of small ridge called the pryors with about 10 mi of visibility I called for vectors to billings airport to fly safely over ridge. During this encounter, I flew into IFR conditions for safe navigation over obstructions. I am a VFR rated pilot. I realize now that with marginal VFR in wy, I probably should not have flown.
