Narrative:

Descent in bos from FL330 was rapid due to ATC clearance and no traffic ahead. Cabin pressurization was not at sea level when clearance for a visual approach was given. We requested additional vectoring to allow pressurization to get to sea level. Bos approach apparently thought emergency condition existed. Scrambled fire trucks, notified company. Flight attendant notified us of ear problems which precipitated vectoring. We should have monitored pressurization closer on descent to ensure sea level.
