Narrative:

After leaving valdosta approach we contacted ZJX and were cleared to climb to FL290. About 5 min after getting clearance from ZJX we tried to contact ZJX and were unable to get them. We returned to valdosta approach frequency, but due to frequency congestion, we couldn't contact valdosta so we returned to ZJX frequency and made communication with them. ZJX said they had been trying to contact us for about 6 to 8 mins. We told him we had returned to valdosta approach because we could not contact ZJX. He then told us that we should not have left the frequency. I don't know who's fault the problem was, but I felt uneasy about the center controller's tone of voice.
