Narrative:

On ramp control out of charlotte, we were given a command to stop taxi and hold our position. This was followed shortly by a question as to why we were stopped. Ramp control stated they did not issue the hold. Later, on ground, we were given a continue to taxi, followed by ground stating we had crossed the spot he wanted us to hold. We later were told by a captain in another company aircraft that they called those commands. (On our company frequency I think, which we are hearing along with our #1 radio.) they (as stated) did this just to get in line ahead of us. This is stupid, using poor judgement and is also a violation.
