Narrative:

I installed a temporary rear view mirror on small aircraft helicopter aircraft to aid in aerial photography. I did not revise the aircraft weight and balance to reflect a 7 1/2 ounce addition to the aircraft weight. At this time I am not able to produce any documentation as to this mirror being approved by the FAA. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: reporter stated that he was advised to report this matter in case that someone noticed the rear view mirror attached to the helicopter while sitting in the hangar since the installation was not approved by the FAA. The reporter further stated that he has used the mirror on numerous occasions when photographing boat races but usually removes the mirror after each use. He stated that he had not been contacted by anyone regarding this matter.
