Narrative:

While working in the pattern at enw I paid more attention to other aircraft that were also in the pattern, at this uncontrolled field and didn't perform adequate checklist procedures to insure I was in a proper landing confign. My next error occurred when I perceived the gear warning horn as a stall warning and applied power and control input for a stall instead of going around. The warning horn did quit as I applied power and I continued my approach. As I made the field I reduced power again and the horn sounded again. At this point, I realized my error and with full flaps and minimal power couldn't react fast enough to recover. Factors that contributed to my situation were my concern for other aircraft in the pattern, which included a deaf pilot that day, lack of experience, and poor cockpit checklist management. Corrective actions would include never assuming that vital checks have been made and more thorough study of all aircraft systems. Also, trust all warning horns and react and go around to allow for time to reanalyze your situation. Finally, if experience is a valuable teacher, learn from it, and work by the book without fail.
