Narrative:

During a local multieng training flight the right cowling section on the right engine became unattached while at cruise. Both hinges were broken but the cowling remained attached by the latches. I instructed the student to slow the aircraft and start a gradual descent to the airfield below us. When turning base to land using a shallow bank angle the cowling fell completely off and toward the ground. A normal landing followed a go around due to a high first approach. The hinges clearly failed possibly due to ill-fitting cowlings after recent repairs had been done. No reports of where the cowling landed at this time.
