Narrative:

While taxiing out for takeoff, I found that I was unable to transmit on the #1 communication radio. This was a fairly unusual situation in that the #2 transmit and receive was ok, #1 receive was ok, and the captain had no problems on either radio. We delayed for about 45 mins while maintenance fixed the situation (they finally replaced a 'remote electronics unit'). The radio appeared ok as we started taxiing again, but near takeoff position, I did begin to notice my transmissions going out slightly 'crackly.' when cleared for takeoff, I made a mental note to try the #2 radio on departure if there was no immediate response on #1. No switches or frequencys were changed, however. Shortly after takeoff, the tower controller asked 'how do you read?' -- loud and clear. We contacted departure control and continued the flight, but wrote up the #1 communication radio again for scratchy transmissions. We were surprised to get an ACARS message from dispatch saying that another crew heard our takeoff clearance cancelled after we started takeoff roll -- not once but twice! Everyone misses a clearance now and then, but for 2 crew members to miss 2 in a row is very remote. I can only surmise that a #1 radio malfunction prevented us from hearing the clearance cancelled. Title: FLC FAILS TO RECEIVE 2 CANCELLATIONS OF TKOF CLRNC CAUSING WHAT LCL CTLR DEEMED A CLOSE CONFLICT WITH TFC LNDG ON XING RWY.

Narrative: WHILE TAXIING OUT FOR TKOF, I FOUND THAT I WAS UNABLE TO XMIT ON THE #1 COM RADIO. THIS WAS A FAIRLY UNUSUAL SITUATION IN THAT THE #2 XMIT AND RECEIVE WAS OK, #1 RECEIVE WAS OK, AND THE CAPT HAD NO PROBLEMS ON EITHER RADIO. WE DELAYED FOR ABOUT 45 MINS WHILE MAINT FIXED THE SITUATION (THEY FINALLY REPLACED A 'REMOTE ELECTRONICS UNIT'). THE RADIO APPEARED OK AS WE STARTED TAXIING AGAIN, BUT NEAR TKOF POS, I DID BEGIN TO NOTICE MY TRANSMISSIONS GOING OUT SLIGHTLY 'CRACKLY.' WHEN CLRED FOR TKOF, I MADE A MENTAL NOTE TO TRY THE #2 RADIO ON DEP IF THERE WAS NO IMMEDIATE RESPONSE ON #1. NO SWITCHES OR FREQS WERE CHANGED, HOWEVER. SHORTLY AFTER TKOF, THE TWR CTLR ASKED 'HOW DO YOU READ?' -- LOUD AND CLR. WE CONTACTED DEP CTL AND CONTINUED THE FLT, BUT WROTE UP THE #1 COM RADIO AGAIN FOR SCRATCHY TRANSMISSIONS. WE WERE SURPRISED TO GET AN ACARS MESSAGE FROM DISPATCH SAYING THAT ANOTHER CREW HEARD OUR TKOF CLRNC CANCELLED AFTER WE STARTED TKOF ROLL -- NOT ONCE BUT TWICE! EVERYONE MISSES A CLRNC NOW AND THEN, BUT FOR 2 CREW MEMBERS TO MISS 2 IN A ROW IS VERY REMOTE. I CAN ONLY SURMISE THAT A #1 RADIO MALFUNCTION PREVENTED US FROM HEARING THE CLRNC CANCELLED.
