Narrative:

On arrival to dtw at 11000 ft MSL, heading of 030 degrees, approach controller advised us of traffic (VFR) at 10500 ft MSL at our 2 O'clock position. We did not acquire the traffic visually and received a 'climb' advisory from TCASII. We followed the advisory and visual sighting on the traffic during our climb. We climbed approximately 700-800 ft before correcting back to our assigned altitude. As we started our climb, my captain advised the controller that we were climbing in response to a RA from TCASII. The controller did not respond -- busy with other traffic.
