Narrative:

After departure off of chicago's 32L (T1 intersection) and during cruise, the #1 flight attendant came up and told me that a passenger identing himself as the FAA wanted my last name. I informed the flight attendant that I would be happy to comply if he would produce his credentials. He did not and then I received reports of this passenger telling other passenger that the takeoff out of ord was an illegal one! I then asked the #1 flight attendant to request his presence in the forward galley where I could talk to this gentleman. He would not come so I told her to tell him I will speak to him on the ground. After arriving in ont I took this gentleman away from other deplaning passenger and asked for his credentials. He then stated that he wasn't with the FAA and denied the allegations of the illegal takeoff. He was argumentative and combative during our discussions and told me he was a CFI and that our takeoff out of ord was unsafe based on the fact that there was unused runway behind us as we took the intersection for takeoff. I feel this type of person is an insult to our profession and want to see some type of action taken for impersonating the FAA and interfering with a flight crew! Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following: reporter states he had information reference passenger and turned into the FAA. Letters have been sent back and forth and they are doing follow up.

Title: PAX ON ACR FLT CLAIMS HE IS FAA INSPECTOR BUT WOULD NOT PRODUCE CREDENTIALS. TOLD OTHER PAX ACFT PERFORMED ILLEGAL TKOF. CAPT SPOKE TO HIM ON GND.

Narrative: AFTER DEP OFF OF CHICAGO'S 32L (T1 INTXN) AND DURING CRUISE, THE #1 FLT ATTENDANT CAME UP AND TOLD ME THAT A PAX IDENTING HIMSELF AS THE FAA WANTED MY LAST NAME. I INFORMED THE FLT ATTENDANT THAT I WOULD BE HAPPY TO COMPLY IF HE WOULD PRODUCE HIS CREDENTIALS. HE DID NOT AND THEN I RECEIVED RPTS OF THIS PAX TELLING OTHER PAX THAT THE TKOF OUT OF ORD WAS AN ILLEGAL ONE! I THEN ASKED THE #1 FLT ATTENDANT TO REQUEST HIS PRESENCE IN THE FORWARD GALLEY WHERE I COULD TALK TO THIS GENTLEMAN. HE WOULD NOT COME SO I TOLD HER TO TELL HIM I WILL SPEAK TO HIM ON THE GND. AFTER ARRIVING IN ONT I TOOK THIS GENTLEMAN AWAY FROM OTHER DEPLANING PAX AND ASKED FOR HIS CREDENTIALS. HE THEN STATED THAT HE WASN'T WITH THE FAA AND DENIED THE ALLEGATIONS OF THE ILLEGAL TKOF. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING: RPTR STATES HE HAD INFO REF PAX AND TURNED INTO THE FAA. LETTERS HAVE BEEN SENT BACK AND FORTH AND THEY ARE DOING FOLLOW UP.
