Narrative:

I was dispatched a military charter to cape newenham, ak. NOTAMS showed south 2000 ft closed. When I arrived equipment was working on and along the north end of the runway. No one responded to CTAF. Under the impression that the NOTAM had it backward. The south 2/3 was clear and looked in good condition. Unable to do a fly by due the 8 percent runway grade and high terrain. I decided to land midfield and taxi up to the south end. No damage nor any problems other than upset military ground personnel. There was no markings of any kind on the runway. No one was monitoring CTAF.
