Narrative:

We were cleared from FL330 to FL240, pilot discretion after 290. During descent at approximately FL305 I noticed a TCASII display of an aircraft at 310 ahead of us. As I was adjusting the display range to get a better idea of where he was, we received a TCASII RA to descend. We complied immediately and visually observed an medium large transport pass overhead approximately 500- 1000 above us. Shortly after the RA was received ATC told us to expedite descent. I advised ATC we had received a RA. I think ATC had not noticed the relative position of the 2 aircraft. TCASII worked as advertised!
