Narrative:

Preflight action complete. Low oil pressure noted on start up. Shut down engine to verify dipstick secure and no oil escaping in the engine compartment. Dipstick was secure and visual identify showed no oil in the engine compartment. Oil level visually idented at 6 1/4 quarts on dipstick. Start up initiated and oil pressure normal. Oil pressure in green arc during runup. After takeoff, lost oil pressure. Requested 180 degree turn back to departing runway for landing. Upon landing and maintenance check discovered carbon rubber foreign material blocking oil pressure regulator orifice. Material removed and oil pressure returned to normal. No other foreign material noted. Oil change had been completed less than 24 hours earlier. In future should require all oil changes be completed with screened funnel to ensure no contaminates in oil. Total time in service aircraft: 150 hours.

Title: INSTRUCTOR OF SMA ACFT WAS FORCED TO LAND AFTER TKOF DUE TO LOSS OF ENG OIL PRESSURE.

Narrative: PREFLT ACTION COMPLETE. LOW OIL PRESSURE NOTED ON START UP. SHUT DOWN ENG TO VERIFY DIPSTICK SECURE AND NO OIL ESCAPING IN THE ENG COMPARTMENT. DIPSTICK WAS SECURE AND VISUAL IDENT SHOWED NO OIL IN THE ENG COMPARTMENT. OIL LEVEL VISUALLY IDENTED AT 6 1/4 QUARTS ON DIPSTICK. START UP INITIATED AND OIL PRESSURE NORMAL. OIL PRESSURE IN GREEN ARC DURING RUNUP. AFTER TKOF, LOST OIL PRESSURE. REQUESTED 180 DEG TURN BACK TO DEPARTING RWY FOR LNDG. UPON LNDG AND MAINT CHK DISCOVERED CARBON RUBBER FOREIGN MATERIAL BLOCKING OIL PRESSURE REGULATOR ORIFICE. MATERIAL REMOVED AND OIL PRESSURE RETURNED TO NORMAL. NO OTHER FOREIGN MATERIAL NOTED. OIL CHANGE HAD BEEN COMPLETED LESS THAN 24 HRS EARLIER. IN FUTURE SHOULD REQUIRE ALL OIL CHANGES BE COMPLETED WITH SCREENED FUNNEL TO ENSURE NO CONTAMINATES IN OIL. TOTAL TIME IN SVC ACFT: 150 HRS.
