Narrative:

Approach and landing seemed normal until nose was lowered after touchdown. Nose gear collapsed and slid on runway for several ft. No injuries or other persons or property involved. Analyzing situation, I must have become too comfortable in aircraft, I did follow checklist and after gear lowered (as always) I visually checked main gear -- it was down. I thought I checked lights. However in talking with mechanics later they said it could not have shown green. This is especially embarrassing as I recently submitted to FSDO a proposal that I felt would eliminate wheels up lndgs. The only thing I can state is that in the future I will definitely know if all is well prior to landing. I thought all was well but mechanics should know. This is a very humbling experience because incidents like this only happen to others. My checklist will be expanded so as not to be so easily done rote.
