Narrative:

While in cruise at 35000 ft with #2 autoplt in command mode and altitude hold, the so declared we had a hydraulic leak in #3 system. The captain turned off all flight control hydraulic power switches. The so immediately told the captain that these switches should not be turned off. By the time hydraulics were restored to the flight controls, the aircraft had climbed to 36500 ft. When hydraulic power was restored to the elevators, the first officer descended back to 35000 ft. The captain notified center we had a hydraulic problem. Center indicated they had no traffic in our area.

Title: CAPT OF WDB ACR ACFT MISTAKENLY SHUT OFF ALL HYD SYS TO THE ACFT CTLS CAUSING THE ACFT TO CLB ABOVE ASSIGNED ALT.

Narrative: WHILE IN CRUISE AT 35000 FT WITH #2 AUTOPLT IN COMMAND MODE AND ALT HOLD, THE SO DECLARED WE HAD A HYD LEAK IN #3 SYS. THE CAPT TURNED OFF ALL FLT CTL HYD PWR SWITCHES. THE SO IMMEDIATELY TOLD THE CAPT THAT THESE SWITCHES SHOULD NOT BE TURNED OFF. BY THE TIME HYDS WERE RESTORED TO THE FLT CTLS, THE ACFT HAD CLBED TO 36500 FT. WHEN HYD PWR WAS RESTORED TO THE ELEVATORS, THE FO DSNDED BACK TO 35000 FT. THE CAPT NOTIFIED CTR WE HAD A HYD PROBLEM. CTR INDICATED THEY HAD NO TFC IN OUR AREA.
