Narrative:
En route from dca-bos aircraft developed a system failure. Crew completed all required checklist and abnormal procedures. When the crew went to reference the MEL/cdl manual it was not on board the aircraft. Our company policy has this manual stored in a different location from all other required on-board publications. Maybe all required publications should be stored in 1 location on each aircraft.
