Narrative:

Air carrier X had been told by approach to expect a visual approach to runway 3R at dtw. We briefed an approach for that runway. They told us to expect a 15 mi turn in. At approximately 15 mi on downwind they told us to turn right to 330 degree land intercept the localizer. Numerous transmissions were being made to other aircraft. Approach told us 'they'd be taking an aircraft beneath us at 3000 ft for the other runway.' I finally told approach we needed lower and they said 'we cleared you to intercept runway 3L localizer.' we never acknowledged a clearance to the left runway and we'd been told more than once to plan for the right side. If approach changes the runway for an aircraft, they should specifically address said runway change to the aircraft and ensure they get a readback for the new runway.

Title: MULTIPLE RWY OP PARALLEL RWY OP ACR X MADE APCH TO WRONG RWY.

Narrative: ACR X HAD BEEN TOLD BY APCH TO EXPECT A VISUAL APCH TO RWY 3R AT DTW. WE BRIEFED AN APCH FOR THAT RWY. THEY TOLD US TO EXPECT A 15 MI TURN IN. AT APPROX 15 MI ON DOWNWIND THEY TOLD US TO TURN R TO 330 DEG LAND INTERCEPT THE LOC. NUMEROUS TRANSMISSIONS WERE BEING MADE TO OTHER ACFT. APCH TOLD US 'THEY'D BE TAKING AN ACFT BENEATH US AT 3000 FT FOR THE OTHER RWY.' I FINALLY TOLD APCH WE NEEDED LOWER AND THEY SAID 'WE CLRED YOU TO INTERCEPT RWY 3L LOC.' WE NEVER ACKNOWLEDGED A CLRNC TO THE LEFT RWY AND WE'D BEEN TOLD MORE THAN ONCE TO PLAN FOR THE R SIDE. IF APCH CHANGES THE RWY FOR AN ACFT, THEY SHOULD SPECIFICALLY ADDRESS SAID RWY CHANGE TO THE ACFT AND ENSURE THEY GET A READBACK FOR THE NEW RWY.
