Narrative:

Reference to incidents that have happened due to limited airspace, we at sch tower felt a need to obtain airspace that had been formerly in our air traffic area. At the present time, the sch air traffic area ends 1600 ft above the surface. Albany approach control arsa starts at that altitude and aircraft that are being radar vectored to land at albany, ny, airport cross sch airport 1600 ft above the surface, an altitude issued by alb. Our airport is crossed regularly by aircraft under the control of alb approach control. This is a very dangerous situation, especially when these aircraft are large or heavy category. To another aircraft in our pattern, it appears that this crossing traffic is in our pattern. In addition, VFR aircraft are unnecessarily being forced to fly at lower altitudes not in compliance with obstruction clearance altitudes under the FARS. Recently, we had hoped to acquire some airspace back through a new LOA, but have been met with opposition from alb management. Why medium large transport's, etc, have to be that low, at least 8 mi from their destination, is beyond me. We need more airspace in which to operate our traffic and to provide a safety buffer between aircraft controled by 2 different facilities.

Title: CTLR COMPLAINS ABOUT NOT HAVING ENOUGH AIRSPACE BECAUSE OF A HEAVIER USED ARPT NEARBY. CLAIMS THAT ACFT HAVE TO BE KEPT LOW BECAUSE OTHER FACILITY WILL NOT SHARE.

Narrative: REF TO INCIDENTS THAT HAVE HAPPENED DUE TO LIMITED AIRSPACE, WE AT SCH TWR FELT A NEED TO OBTAIN AIRSPACE THAT HAD BEEN FORMERLY IN OUR ATA. AT THE PRESENT TIME, THE SCH ATA ENDS 1600 FT ABOVE THE SURFACE. ALBANY APCH CTL ARSA STARTS AT THAT ALT AND ACFT THAT ARE BEING RADAR VECTORED TO LAND AT ALBANY, NY, ARPT CROSS SCH ARPT 1600 FT ABOVE THE SURFACE, AN ALT ISSUED BY ALB. OUR ARPT IS CROSSED REGULARLY BY ACFT UNDER THE CTL OF ALB APCH CTL. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION, ESPECIALLY WHEN THESE ACFT ARE LARGE OR HVY CATEGORY. TO ANOTHER ACFT IN OUR PATTERN, IT APPEARS THAT THIS XING TFC IS IN OUR PATTERN. IN ADDITION, VFR ACFT ARE UNNECESSARILY BEING FORCED TO FLY AT LOWER ALTS NOT IN COMPLIANCE WITH OBSTRUCTION CLRNC ALTS UNDER THE FARS. RECENTLY, WE HAD HOPED TO ACQUIRE SOME AIRSPACE BACK THROUGH A NEW LOA, BUT HAVE BEEN MET WITH OPPOSITION FROM ALB MGMNT. WHY MLG'S, ETC, HAVE TO BE THAT LOW, AT LEAST 8 MI FROM THEIR DEST, IS BEYOND ME. WE NEED MORE AIRSPACE IN WHICH TO OPERATE OUR TFC AND TO PROVIDE A SAFETY BUFFER BTWN ACFT CTLED BY 2 DIFFERENT FACILITIES.
