Narrative:

The following situation has just come to my attention: on 2/92 I flew aircraft, an mdt, from denver to cody, wy, (flight XY24) and returned to denver the following morning as XY00. Prior to our departure from denver all equipment on the aircraft was functioning normally. Earlier that day mechanics had performed a 'line check' on the airplane and released it into service as airworthy. I was unaware, at that time, that the cabin entry door light had burned out the previous day, feb. On feb the inoperative light was noted as a discrepancy in the aircraft log, the light bulb was immediately replaced and the aircraft was released back into service. The mechanics notation in the logbook did not specifically mention the replacement of the light bulb. Supplemental information from acn 202643. 2/92, 2 mechanical discrepancies were entered into page of aircraft log. One of the discrepancies was written off. However, the first discrepancy, cabin entry door light inoperative, was not cleared; ie, not written up as being corrected.

Title: INADEQUATE ACFT LOGBOOK SIGN OFF.

Narrative: THE FOLLOWING SITUATION HAS JUST COME TO MY ATTN: ON 2/92 I FLEW ACFT, AN MDT, FROM DENVER TO CODY, WY, (FLT XY24) AND RETURNED TO DENVER THE FOLLOWING MORNING AS XY00. PRIOR TO OUR DEP FROM DENVER ALL EQUIP ON THE ACFT WAS FUNCTIONING NORMALLY. EARLIER THAT DAY MECHS HAD PERFORMED A 'LINE CHK' ON THE AIRPLANE AND RELEASED IT INTO SVC AS AIRWORTHY. I WAS UNAWARE, AT THAT TIME, THAT THE CABIN ENTRY DOOR LIGHT HAD BURNED OUT THE PREVIOUS DAY, FEB. ON FEB THE INOP LIGHT WAS NOTED AS A DISCREPANCY IN THE ACFT LOG, THE LIGHT BULB WAS IMMEDIATELY REPLACED AND THE ACFT WAS RELEASED BACK INTO SVC. THE MECHS NOTATION IN THE LOGBOOK DID NOT SPECIFICALLY MENTION THE REPLACEMENT OF THE LIGHT BULB. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 202643. 2/92, 2 MECHANICAL DISCREPANCIES WERE ENTERED INTO PAGE OF ACFT LOG. ONE OF THE DISCREPANCIES WAS WRITTEN OFF. HOWEVER, THE FIRST DISCREPANCY, CABIN ENTRY DOOR LIGHT INOP, WAS NOT CLRED; IE, NOT WRITTEN UP AS BEING CORRECTED.
