Narrative:

Upon level off at 14000 MSL, departure stand 'to maintain 14000.' when comparing captain and first officer altimeters, first officer altimeter indicated 14100 ft and captain altimeter indicated 14450 ft MSL. Unable to determine which was correct. This has been a serious, recurring problem since the aircraft was placed 'on line.' numerous 'write ups' -- company unable or unwilling to correct problem. Numerous aircraft have this problem in our fleet. Altitude splits of 50-400 ft are almost commonplace at different times and WX conditions. No conflicts. No other problems. Aircraft was placed in maintenance upon arrival at destination (ict).
