Narrative:

After a rather severe windshear (go around) resulting in a touch and go around, we came back around for another approach. I was training in the left seat with an instructor captain in the right. After tuning all navaids again with no indication of any problems, the autoplt first gave a mode failure then quit all together. Then just after intercepting the localizer on what appeared to be on centerline (according to the FMC) the localizer became erratic along with the GS. We were told we had drifted left towards 35L. Then to compound the problem approach gave us the approach frequency for runway 36 by mistake, further compounding the problem. Once we were switched back, we were given a right heading to return to 35R centerline but still has no reliable lo. Just as we were about to go around again, visual contact was made and an uneventful landing followed. Lesson learned: should have taken go around when autoplt knocked off rather than allowing aircraft to drift off course, due to bad ILS input.

Title: ACR LGT TRACK HDG DEV WHILE ON A TRAINING FLT AT DFW MAKING AN IAP ILS APCH TO RWY 35R.

Narrative: AFTER A RATHER SEVERE WINDSHEAR (GAR) RESULTING IN A TOUCH AND GAR, WE CAME BACK AROUND FOR ANOTHER APCH. I WAS TRAINING IN THE L SEAT WITH AN INSTRUCTOR CAPT IN THE R. AFTER TUNING ALL NAVAIDS AGAIN WITH NO INDICATION OF ANY PROBLEMS, THE AUTOPLT FIRST GAVE A MODE FAILURE THEN QUIT ALL TOGETHER. THEN JUST AFTER INTERCEPTING THE LOC ON WHAT APPEARED TO BE ON CENTERLINE (ACCORDING TO THE FMC) THE LOC BECAME ERRATIC ALONG WITH THE GS. WE WERE TOLD WE HAD DRIFTED L TOWARDS 35L. THEN TO COMPOUND THE PROBLEM APCH GAVE US THE APCH FREQ FOR RWY 36 BY MISTAKE, FURTHER COMPOUNDING THE PROBLEM. ONCE WE WERE SWITCHED BACK, WE WERE GIVEN A R HDG TO RETURN TO 35R CENTERLINE BUT STILL HAS NO RELIABLE LO. JUST AS WE WERE ABOUT TO GAR AGAIN, VISUAL CONTACT WAS MADE AND AN UNEVENTFUL LNDG FOLLOWED. LESSON LEARNED: SHOULD HAVE TAKEN GAR WHEN AUTOPLT KNOCKED OFF RATHER THAN ALLOWING ACFT TO DRIFT OFF COURSE, DUE TO BAD ILS INPUT.
