Narrative:

Enclosed request for signs and markings at sfo. Nothing has been accomplished. Meanwhile we still have gars due to 'lost' aircraft on the runways. Sfo has always had a major problem controling the west end of the airport due to the large area of pavement and many confusing yellow taxiway lines. Controller's have experienced many times the confusion caused by a GA and an occasional air carrier aircraft lost especially at night. The key taxiway in this area is taxiway romeo which is utilized as the primary route into and out of FBO. Taxiway romeo contains the required standard markings, however, due to all the paved area at the west end, is very confusing to the less experienced or pilots that use the airport for the first time. The possibility of a 'blue painted line' along side the existing yellow line and 'blue reflectors' for night time operations be added to marking on taxiway romeo. This is a list of lighted signs requested by the controllers at sfo tower. 1) 28R at 'K'. 2) 28R at 'right'. 3) 19L at 'F'. 4) 19L at 'G' and 'H'. 5) 19L at 'M'. 6) a 'no entry' sign on 'J' facing 'a' taxiway. 7) 'lower ramp'. A dashed yellow line into and out of FBO across all of 'right' taxiway. A solid blue line would also be best in the same area. 8) amber lights on 'right' that can be turned up in intensity. 9) remove all visitor signs in the GA area. This large paved area on the west end of 28L/right has caused much confusion and numerous gars for at least 15 yrs. It would be nice if the sign and marking project could start on 'right'.

Title: POOR TAXIWAY GUIDANCE SIGNS AND MARKING AT SFO ARPT.

Narrative: ENCLOSED REQUEST FOR SIGNS AND MARKINGS AT SFO. NOTHING HAS BEEN ACCOMPLISHED. MEANWHILE WE STILL HAVE GARS DUE TO 'LOST' ACFT ON THE RWYS. SFO HAS ALWAYS HAD A MAJOR PROBLEM CTLING THE W END OF THE ARPT DUE TO THE LARGE AREA OF PAVEMENT AND MANY CONFUSING YELLOW TAXIWAY LINES. CTLR'S HAVE EXPERIENCED MANY TIMES THE CONFUSION CAUSED BY A GA AND AN OCCASIONAL AIR CARRIER ACFT LOST ESPECIALLY AT NIGHT. THE KEY TAXIWAY IN THIS AREA IS TAXIWAY ROMEO WHICH IS UTILIZED AS THE PRIMARY RTE INTO AND OUT OF FBO. TAXIWAY ROMEO CONTAINS THE REQUIRED STANDARD MARKINGS, HOWEVER, DUE TO ALL THE PAVED AREA AT THE W END, IS VERY CONFUSING TO THE LESS EXPERIENCED OR PLTS THAT USE THE ARPT FOR THE FIRST TIME. THE POSSIBILITY OF A 'BLUE PAINTED LINE' ALONG SIDE THE EXISTING YELLOW LINE AND 'BLUE REFLECTORS' FOR NIGHT TIME OPS BE ADDED TO MARKING ON TAXIWAY ROMEO. THIS IS A LIST OF LIGHTED SIGNS REQUESTED BY THE CTLRS AT SFO TWR. 1) 28R AT 'K'. 2) 28R AT 'R'. 3) 19L AT 'F'. 4) 19L AT 'G' AND 'H'. 5) 19L AT 'M'. 6) A 'NO ENTRY' SIGN ON 'J' FACING 'A' TAXIWAY. 7) 'LOWER RAMP'. A DASHED YELLOW LINE INTO AND OUT OF FBO ACROSS ALL OF 'R' TAXIWAY. A SOLID BLUE LINE WOULD ALSO BE BEST IN THE SAME AREA. 8) AMBER LIGHTS ON 'R' THAT CAN BE TURNED UP IN INTENSITY. 9) REMOVE ALL VISITOR SIGNS IN THE GA AREA. THIS LARGE PAVED AREA ON THE W END OF 28L/R HAS CAUSED MUCH CONFUSION AND NUMEROUS GARS FOR AT LEAST 15 YRS. IT WOULD BE NICE IF THE SIGN AND MARKING PROJECT COULD START ON 'R'.
