Narrative:

I conducted a visual approach to runway 30R at stl. An air carrier Y large transport was on the parallel 30L visual. I was cleared for the visual to maintain visual reference to the large transport. We merged courses until we were side by side on the extended centerline of the respective runways. The large transport at that time altered his course by climbing to add additional spacing. I realize that my position may have surprised the large transport crew if they were unaware of my position until I appeared out their right window. On visual approachs that could allow 2 aircraft to become side by side on parallel runways that are close like stl the possibly acknowledgement from both aircraft should be required.

Title: ACR RPTR BELIEVES THE FLC OF BOTH ACFT MAKING SIMULTANEOUS PARALLEL VISUAL APCHS SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE PRESENCE OF THE OTHER ACFT.

Narrative: I CONDUCTED A VISUAL APCH TO RWY 30R AT STL. AN ACR Y LGT WAS ON THE PARALLEL 30L VISUAL. I WAS CLRED FOR THE VISUAL TO MAINTAIN VISUAL REF TO THE LGT. WE MERGED COURSES UNTIL WE WERE SIDE BY SIDE ON THE EXTENDED CENTERLINE OF THE RESPECTIVE RWYS. THE LGT AT THAT TIME ALTERED HIS COURSE BY CLBING TO ADD ADDITIONAL SPACING. I REALIZE THAT MY POS MAY HAVE SURPRISED THE LGT CREW IF THEY WERE UNAWARE OF MY POS UNTIL I APPEARED OUT THEIR R WINDOW. ON VISUAL APCHS THAT COULD ALLOW 2 ACFT TO BECOME SIDE BY SIDE ON PARALLEL RWYS THAT ARE CLOSE LIKE STL THE POSSIBLY ACKNOWLEDGEMENT FROM BOTH ACFT SHOULD BE REQUIRED.
