Narrative:
En route to lih from hnl, noticed faint unusual odor in the cockpit like nail polish or acetone. Smell became stronger. As precautionary safety measure, first officer donned O2 mask while I called flight attendant to see if it smelled in the cabin. First flight attendant answered, said she'd be right in and came immediately into the cockpit. Determined source to be a man with a bottle of some kind of 'acrylic' told her to have him take it to the back of aircraft away from the passenger (28 passenger all seated in forward cabin). As a safety precaution, donned O2 mask, determined lih closest airport, notified center, lih ramp, and lih tower. After landing and clearing the runway, as a precautionary safety measure, had passenger deplane to remove them from the strong odor. After deplaning, 2 flight attendants and later 2 passenger reported feeling ill and taken to wilcox hospital. Bottle determined to contain 'acrylic, ester monomers dimethyl-P-toluidine, mehq.'
