Narrative:

Landing without clearance. After listening to the ATIS I made my initial call to vny tower for VFR landing when I was 5 mi south descending out of 2500 ft on the extended centerline of runway 34L. The tower told me to expect runway 34L and to report 'ventura blvd' on final (this would be about 2 mi from the runway). I acknowledged these instructions but no further communications were made between me and vny tower until after I landed and parked my airplane. At the time of my landing vny was not busy; no other airplanes were in the pattern for 34L. The ATIS was reporting wind at 350 degree at 25 KTS, gusting to 35 KTS. At the time of my initial call to vny I was distracted by the ATIS surface wind report and the light to moderate turbulence I was experiencing. I was so concerned with the surface winds that I forgot to make the position report and obtain landing clearance. After landing and turning off the runway my primary concern was pointing my airplane into the wind. Instead of contacting vny ground control I taxied across a vacant 50 ft taxiway and parked my airplane. At this point I realized that I had landed and taxied without a clearance due to the distraction of the wind.

Title: PLT OF SMA LANDED VNY WITHOUT TWR CLRNC. TAXIED WITHOUT GND CTLR CLRNC.

Narrative: LNDG WITHOUT CLRNC. AFTER LISTENING TO THE ATIS I MADE MY INITIAL CALL TO VNY TWR FOR VFR LNDG WHEN I WAS 5 MI S DSNDING OUT OF 2500 FT ON THE EXTENDED CENTERLINE OF RWY 34L. THE TWR TOLD ME TO EXPECT RWY 34L AND TO RPT 'VENTURA BLVD' ON FINAL (THIS WOULD BE ABOUT 2 MI FROM THE RWY). I ACKNOWLEDGED THESE INSTRUCTIONS BUT NO FURTHER COMS WERE MADE BTWN ME AND VNY TWR UNTIL AFTER I LANDED AND PARKED MY AIRPLANE. AT THE TIME OF MY LNDG VNY WAS NOT BUSY; NO OTHER AIRPLANES WERE IN THE PATTERN FOR 34L. THE ATIS WAS RPTING WIND AT 350 DEG AT 25 KTS, GUSTING TO 35 KTS. AT THE TIME OF MY INITIAL CALL TO VNY I WAS DISTRACTED BY THE ATIS SURFACE WIND RPT AND THE LIGHT TO MODERATE TURB I WAS EXPERIENCING. I WAS SO CONCERNED WITH THE SURFACE WINDS THAT I FORGOT TO MAKE THE POS RPT AND OBTAIN LNDG CLRNC. AFTER LNDG AND TURNING OFF THE RWY MY PRIMARY CONCERN WAS POINTING MY AIRPLANE INTO THE WIND. INSTEAD OF CONTACTING VNY GND CTL I TAXIED ACROSS A VACANT 50 FT TAXIWAY AND PARKED MY AIRPLANE. AT THIS POINT I REALIZED THAT I HAD LANDED AND TAXIED WITHOUT A CLRNC DUE TO THE DISTR OF THE WIND.
