Narrative:
On handoff from atl center, clt approach told us to expect runway 36R. My copilot (the PF) and myself briefed the ATP. On the first vector I set up the approach by tuning the localizer frequency for 36R. Approach told me to keep 190 KTS till glasi intersection cleared for approach. Realizing glasi is on 36L, I asked him to verify clearance for 36R. He responded 'no, cleared for 36L.' I told him that it would take me time to set up for 36L. He then gave me the localizer frequency. I tuned clt VOR for the DME and held it for DME information. Then I tuned the localizer frequency for 36L. I realized that we were well east of the localizer course for 36L and possibly too close to 36R course. Before I could ask approach, I was told to turn to heading 090 degrees and climb to 3600 ft MSL. As I was IMC, I do not know if we came close to another aircraft.

Title: FLC OF CPR ACFT VECTORED OUT OF APCH PATTERN BY TRACON.
Narrative: ON HDOF FROM ATL CENTER, CLT APCH TOLD US TO EXPECT RWY 36R. MY COPLT (THE PF) AND MYSELF BRIEFED THE ATP. ON THE FIRST VECTOR I SET UP THE APCH BY TUNING THE LOC FREQ FOR 36R. APCH TOLD ME TO KEEP 190 KTS TILL GLASI INTXN CLRED FOR APCH. REALIZING GLASI IS ON 36L, I ASKED HIM TO VERIFY CLRNC FOR 36R. HE RESPONDED 'NO, CLRED FOR 36L.' I TOLD HIM THAT IT WOULD TAKE ME TIME TO SET UP FOR 36L. HE THEN GAVE ME THE LOC FREQ. I TUNED CLT VOR FOR THE DME AND HELD IT FOR DME INFO. THEN I TUNED THE LOC FREQ FOR 36L. I REALIZED THAT WE WERE WELL E OF THE LOC COURSE FOR 36L AND POSSIBLY TOO CLOSE TO 36R COURSE. BEFORE I COULD ASK APCH, I WAS TOLD TO TURN TO HDG 090 DEGS AND CLB TO 3600 FT MSL. AS I WAS IMC, I DO NOT KNOW IF WE CAME CLOSE TO ANOTHER ACFT.
