Narrative:

While in a training flight in transition from phoenix sky harbor to phoenix deer valley, we were released from TCA radar service and given permission to change frequencys. My student was unprepared in the way of she did not have the satellite CTAF frequency. I allowed her to continue in searching for the proper frequency so she would see why she needed to prepare a list of frequencys for the en route flight. Prior to entering deer valley's airspace, I said, 'ok, here it is...' and told her she needs to prepare better than this time next time. At that point I dialed another satellite airport tower's frequency. We established radio contact and proceeded to deer valley while talking to falcon tower in mesa, az. The instructions given to us did not make sense and we questioned the instructions, giving our position relative to deer valley. We entered the pattern and proceeded all the way to final approach for runway 7R. Upon turning final I heard 'falcon tower' and '4R' and recognized our mistake. We commenced go around procedures and explained to falcon tower the situation. I asked for deer valley's frequency but did not receive a response so I said '...clear' and then recalled deer valley's frequency. I called and explained to deer valley tower what had happened and verified that we were not in an emergency situation. We continued upwind according to instructions given to us by the tower and reentered the pattern, ending in a full stop landing. After landing, we taxied back to takeoff 7R and exited the pattern for the biltmore transition. Upon frequency change permission, we apologized to deer valley tower and they said it was not a problem which needs further action. This probably would not have happened if I had not lost my temper at my student being unprepared. If I had been more stable in my temper, I am sure I would have given the proper frequency and I would have recognized why the directions did not make sense. My loss of temper was probably due to this student's continually being unprepared. I was well rested and healthy and so was the student.

Title: GA SMA UNAUTHORIZED PENETRATION OF AIRSPACE. INSTRUCTOR PLT DIALED IN THE WRONG TWR FREQ AND BLAMES THE STUDENT PLT FOR NOT BEING PREPARED.

Narrative: WHILE IN A TRAINING FLT IN TRANSITION FROM PHOENIX SKY HARBOR TO PHOENIX DEER VALLEY, WE WERE RELEASED FROM TCA RADAR SVC AND GIVEN PERMISSION TO CHANGE FREQS. MY STUDENT WAS UNPREPARED IN THE WAY OF SHE DID NOT HAVE THE SATELLITE CTAF FREQ. I ALLOWED HER TO CONTINUE IN SEARCHING FOR THE PROPER FREQ SO SHE WOULD SEE WHY SHE NEEDED TO PREPARE A LIST OF FREQS FOR THE ENRTE FLT. PRIOR TO ENTERING DEER VALLEY'S AIRSPACE, I SAID, 'OK, HERE IT IS...' AND TOLD HER SHE NEEDS TO PREPARE BETTER THAN THIS TIME NEXT TIME. AT THAT POINT I DIALED ANOTHER SATELLITE ARPT TWR'S FREQ. WE ESTABLISHED RADIO CONTACT AND PROCEEDED TO DEER VALLEY WHILE TALKING TO FALCON TWR IN MESA, AZ. THE INSTRUCTIONS GIVEN TO US DID NOT MAKE SENSE AND WE QUESTIONED THE INSTRUCTIONS, GIVING OUR POS RELATIVE TO DEER VALLEY. WE ENTERED THE PATTERN AND PROCEEDED ALL THE WAY TO FINAL APCH FOR RWY 7R. UPON TURNING FINAL I HEARD 'FALCON TWR' AND '4R' AND RECOGNIZED OUR MISTAKE. WE COMMENCED GAR PROCS AND EXPLAINED TO FALCON TWR THE SITUATION. I ASKED FOR DEER VALLEY'S FREQ BUT DID NOT RECEIVE A RESPONSE SO I SAID '...CLR' AND THEN RECALLED DEER VALLEY'S FREQ. I CALLED AND EXPLAINED TO DEER VALLEY TWR WHAT HAD HAPPENED AND VERIFIED THAT WE WERE NOT IN AN EMER SITUATION. WE CONTINUED UPWIND ACCORDING TO INSTRUCTIONS GIVEN TO US BY THE TWR AND REENTERED THE PATTERN, ENDING IN A FULL STOP LNDG. AFTER LNDG, WE TAXIED BACK TO TKOF 7R AND EXITED THE PATTERN FOR THE BILTMORE TRANSITION. UPON FREQ CHANGE PERMISSION, WE APOLOGIZED TO DEER VALLEY TWR AND THEY SAID IT WAS NOT A PROBLEM WHICH NEEDS FURTHER ACTION. THIS PROBABLY WOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED IF I HAD NOT LOST MY TEMPER AT MY STUDENT BEING UNPREPARED. IF I HAD BEEN MORE STABLE IN MY TEMPER, I AM SURE I WOULD HAVE GIVEN THE PROPER FREQ AND I WOULD HAVE RECOGNIZED WHY THE DIRECTIONS DID NOT MAKE SENSE. MY LOSS OF TEMPER WAS PROBABLY DUE TO THIS STUDENT'S CONTINUALLY BEING UNPREPARED. I WAS WELL RESTED AND HEALTHY AND SO WAS THE STUDENT.
