Narrative:

We were being radar vectored to final approach (runway 22) at msp. We were descending to 5000 ft. Passing approximately 6000 ft we had a TCASII RA to climb. The traffic showed approximately 1 mi and 300 ft above us (descending) on TCASII. I elected to turn right to avoid the traffic, as we had visual contact with the widebody transport Y. Approach had previously called the widebody transport Y to us and we had a visual on him. There was a potential conflict, however, it was not a near miss. Approach control should have provided better separation between the 2 aircraft.
