Narrative:

Flight sfo-dtw. We departed the gate at sfo weighing 183900 pounds gross. Our final mgl indicated we could only depart 1R -- too heavy for 1L. The san francisco 5 departure (SID) requires a 30 degree heading after takeoff and a climb to pass a point 6 DME northeast of sfo at or above 3000 ft. Because of our high takeoff gross weight we were unable to meet that restriction. We passed the 6 DME point at 2000 ft. We did make it to 3000 by 8.4 DME. We used reduced EPR for takeoff. Even using full takeoff EPR would not have given us the performance to meet the restriction. I believe that we need to change the climb limit weight for departure on 1L or 1R at sfo to conform to that restriction.

Title: HVY LGT UNABLE TO MAKE 3000 FT XING 6 MI AFTER TKOF PER PUBLISHED DEP.

Narrative: FLT SFO-DTW. WE DEPARTED THE GATE AT SFO WEIGHING 183900 POUNDS GROSS. OUR FINAL MGL INDICATED WE COULD ONLY DEPART 1R -- TOO HVY FOR 1L. THE SAN FRANCISCO 5 DEP (SID) REQUIRES A 30 DEG HDG AFTER TKOF AND A CLB TO PASS A POINT 6 DME NE OF SFO AT OR ABOVE 3000 FT. BECAUSE OF OUR HIGH TKOF GROSS WT WE WERE UNABLE TO MEET THAT RESTRICTION. WE PASSED THE 6 DME POINT AT 2000 FT. WE DID MAKE IT TO 3000 BY 8.4 DME. WE USED REDUCED EPR FOR TKOF. EVEN USING FULL TKOF EPR WOULD NOT HAVE GIVEN US THE PERFORMANCE TO MEET THE RESTRICTION. I BELIEVE THAT WE NEED TO CHANGE THE CLB LIMIT WT FOR DEP ON 1L OR 1R AT SFO TO CONFORM TO THAT RESTRICTION.
