Narrative:

I was first officer on air carrier X. After landing at mdw on runway 22L we cleared at the end with a left turn onto taxiway south and stopped heading northeast on taxiway Y where I called ground. Initially there was some confusion as to our position; either ground did not hear the full call sign or I did not say company name with the flight number. After ascertaining our position we were cleared to taxi on Y to hold short of 31C. After reaching the hold short line for 31C the flight was informed that the instructions were to hold short of 31L. No near miss or close encounter resulted from this.
