Narrative:

After takeoff and on climb out from sea, ATC advised us to stay at 14000 ft when aircraft was leveled off at 14600 ft. We then proceeded to descend to 14000 ft. Then ATC advised us of an small transport commuter at 15000 ft. First officer was flying the aircraft and the captain was leaning over and looking at the TCASII. I believe the altitude alert system combined with the TCASII caused a distraction that resulted in us being at a different altitude than was originally assigned.

Title: ACR LGT ALTDEV OVERSHOT DURING CLBOUT FROM SEA.

Narrative: AFTER TKOF AND ON CLBOUT FROM SEA, ATC ADVISED US TO STAY AT 14000 FT WHEN ACFT WAS LEVELED OFF AT 14600 FT. WE THEN PROCEEDED TO DSND TO 14000 FT. THEN ATC ADVISED US OF AN SMT COMMUTER AT 15000 FT. FO WAS FLYING THE ACFT AND THE CAPT WAS LEANING OVER AND LOOKING AT THE TCASII. I BELIEVE THE ALT ALERT SYS COMBINED WITH THE TCASII CAUSED A DISTR THAT RESULTED IN US BEING AT A DIFFERENT ALT THAN WAS ORIGINALLY ASSIGNED.
