Narrative:

Started to call 11 mi south of flight when engine suddenly lost power and started to run very rough. I didn't call flint until a couple of mins later as I was concerned about my engine, and by then was only 6 mi south of the airport. Shut off engine and glided to a landing. Later found out that a piece of rubber torn loose from 'snorkel' was blocking air to carburetor when rpms reached 1900 FPM. That's the reason I flew into arsa without contacting them first. I don't know if the controller will report this or not, but I thought I would anyway.
