Narrative:

We were cleared to land on runway 24. Abeam runway 16, on base to runway 24, control tower said change to runway 16. We accepted. Student was flying. Approach was normal until flare. Wind was 250 at 10-15. We drifted left. Student pilot, who is private pilot helicopter, pushed left rudder and cut throttles. We touched down left with nose pointed left. To avoid ground loop of sharp right turn I, the instructor, added even more left rudder, avoided runway light and turned to parallel runway on the grass. A sign identing runway distance remaining could not be avoided with left wingtip. Ground was unlevel near a taxiway ahead. Aircraft was turned to avoid the steepest part of the grade but the right propeller struck the ground. I truly believe my student, a helicopter pilot, froze with his left foot fully extended during the crosswind flare. I wish I had been more alert to this potential asking myself 'is this student capable of landing my airplane in this crosswind?'

Title: RWY EXCURSION, LOSS OF ACFT CTL.

Narrative: WE WERE CLRED TO LAND ON RWY 24. ABEAM RWY 16, ON BASE TO RWY 24, CTL TWR SAID CHANGE TO RWY 16. WE ACCEPTED. STUDENT WAS FLYING. APCH WAS NORMAL UNTIL FLARE. WIND WAS 250 AT 10-15. WE DRIFTED L. STUDENT PLT, WHO IS PRIVATE PLT HELI, PUSHED L RUDDER AND CUT THROTTLES. WE TOUCHED DOWN L WITH NOSE POINTED L. TO AVOID GND LOOP OF SHARP R TURN I, THE INSTRUCTOR, ADDED EVEN MORE L RUDDER, AVOIDED RWY LIGHT AND TURNED TO PARALLEL RWY ON THE GRASS. A SIGN IDENTING RWY DISTANCE REMAINING COULD NOT BE AVOIDED WITH L WINGTIP. GND WAS UNLEVEL NEAR A TAXIWAY AHEAD. ACFT WAS TURNED TO AVOID THE STEEPEST PART OF THE GRADE BUT THE R PROP STRUCK THE GND. I TRULY BELIEVE MY STUDENT, A HELI PLT, FROZE WITH HIS L FOOT FULLY EXTENDED DURING THE XWIND FLARE. I WISH I HAD BEEN MORE ALERT TO THIS POTENTIAL ASKING MYSELF 'IS THIS STUDENT CAPABLE OF LNDG MY AIRPLANE IN THIS XWIND?'
