Cleared to 4000 ft on tower for departure. TCASII commanded a climb at 3800 ft followed RA. Crew deviated altitude by climbing to 6000 ft to avoid traffic. No visible traffic observed. Crew felt TCASII gave false warning and captain wrote up TCASII in maintenance log. Also filed TCASII irregularity report with company and report of incident. After deviation ATC cleared flight to 6000 ft. No TA given by ATC.
