Narrative:

The event was a civilian fly-in to wright-patterson. I received flight approval, given VFR arrival time (XX15 to XX30). I was to contact ATIS 20 plus mi out (arrival from northeast). This I did (with ATIS information). At XX15 I was to contact dayton approach control at springfield, oh, which I did. I was at 2000 ft. Approach control vectored me 240 degree. This I did holding altitude for about 20 mins. This put me about 40 plus mi southwest of ffo. There was no further contact. I felt that I was forgotten. I was vectored and given a transponder setting (I had complied). Getting further and further away I felt I soon would be over cincinnati. I did a 180 and returned to ffo vicinity attempting to contact approach control. No response. The transmissions were many with many transmitting at the same time. Radio procedure was much to be desired. I felt since I had been acknowledged I would be recorded. There was no response. I then flew northeast outside the arsa but below 2400 ft, did not enter arsa. I flew into ffo control zone and made a pattern over the proper runways at 2000 ft. No acknowledgement. I then left to the southeast and returned to my home near youngstown, oh. I was not acknowledged, calling repeatedly (radios all operational, 2 navigation-communications). It is my feeling that radio procedures were poor and that scheduled arrs were not taken care of. Planning for this event was very poor. I have been to oshkosh several times and have never experienced this difficulty. I may have entered a controled airspace without approval. My passenger (also a licensed pilot) could not see what could have been done other than having left after initial vectoring. I was careful, observing and flying a proper pattern of airport entry and leaving.

Narrative: THE EVENT WAS A CIVILIAN FLY-IN TO WRIGHT-PATTERSON. I RECEIVED FLT APPROVAL, GIVEN VFR ARR TIME (XX15 TO XX30). I WAS TO CONTACT ATIS 20 PLUS MI OUT (ARR FROM NE). THIS I DID (WITH ATIS INFO). AT XX15 I WAS TO CONTACT DAYTON APCH CTL AT SPRINGFIELD, OH, WHICH I DID. I WAS AT 2000 FT. APCH CTL VECTORED ME 240 DEG. THIS I DID HOLDING ALT FOR ABOUT 20 MINS. THIS PUT ME ABOUT 40 PLUS MI SW OF FFO. THERE WAS NO FURTHER CONTACT. I FELT THAT I WAS FORGOTTEN. I WAS VECTORED AND GIVEN A TRANSPONDER SETTING (I HAD COMPLIED). GETTING FURTHER AND FURTHER AWAY I FELT I SOON WOULD BE OVER CINCINNATI. I DID A 180 AND RETURNED TO FFO VICINITY ATTEMPTING TO CONTACT APCH CTL. NO RESPONSE. THE TRANSMISSIONS WERE MANY WITH MANY TRANSMITTING AT THE SAME TIME. RADIO PROC WAS MUCH TO BE DESIRED. I FELT SINCE I HAD BEEN ACKNOWLEDGED I WOULD BE RECORDED. THERE WAS NO RESPONSE. I THEN FLEW NE OUTSIDE THE ARSA BUT BELOW 2400 FT, DID NOT ENTER ARSA. I FLEW INTO FFO CTL ZONE AND MADE A PATTERN OVER THE PROPER RWYS AT 2000 FT. NO ACKNOWLEDGEMENT. I THEN LEFT TO THE SE AND RETURNED TO MY HOME NEAR YOUNGSTOWN, OH. I WAS NOT ACKNOWLEDGED, CALLING REPEATEDLY (RADIOS ALL OPERATIONAL, 2 NAV-COMS). IT IS MY FEELING THAT RADIO PROCS WERE POOR AND THAT SCHEDULED ARRS WERE NOT TAKEN CARE OF. PLANNING FOR THIS EVENT WAS VERY POOR. I HAVE BEEN TO OSHKOSH SEVERAL TIMES AND HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED THIS DIFFICULTY. I MAY HAVE ENTERED A CTLED AIRSPACE WITHOUT APPROVAL. MY PAX (ALSO A LICENSED PLT) COULD NOT SEE WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN DONE OTHER THAN HAVING LEFT AFTER INITIAL VECTORING. I WAS CAREFUL, OBSERVING AND FLYING A PROPER PATTERN OF ARPT ENTRY AND LEAVING.
