Narrative:

Cleared to hold at shrew as published with 15 mi legs with efc time. Intersection depicted on chart with left turns. FMC is programmed for right turns and my CDU was giving a double image. I plugged in all information except left turn. Copilot busy informing company of our delay. Our first circuit was a right pattern. Informed of error by ATC. Subsequent patterns were proper (to left). Contributing factors: company financial problems, alertness diminished by poor night's sleep, double image on CDU, and only 1 person listening to clearance due to other communications ongoing.
