Narrative:

Thermaling around colonial airpark (grass glider field) underneath memphis TCA. Clrncs from TCA to thermal up to 3500 ft MSL we were at 3100 ft AGL plus airport elevation 370 ft equal 3470 ft MSL and discovered commuter airplane light transport at around 3500 ft MSL +/- 500 ft, about 3000 ft away from us. Although we were far enough away I felt we were too close to commercial operations. Preferably have commuter traffic further above us. I fly the light transport myself and the approach to memphis international can be made easily from 5000-6000 ft above colonial airpark into memphis.

Title: GLIDER OPERATION BELOW TCA FIGURES COMMUTER CARRIERS ARE XING THEIR FIELD OF OPS AT TOO LOW AN ALT.

Narrative: THERMALING AROUND COLONIAL AIRPARK (GRASS GLIDER FIELD) UNDERNEATH MEMPHIS TCA. CLRNCS FROM TCA TO THERMAL UP TO 3500 FT MSL WE WERE AT 3100 FT AGL PLUS ARPT ELEVATION 370 FT EQUAL 3470 FT MSL AND DISCOVERED COMMUTER AIRPLANE LTT AT AROUND 3500 FT MSL +/- 500 FT, ABOUT 3000 FT AWAY FROM US. ALTHOUGH WE WERE FAR ENOUGH AWAY I FELT WE WERE TOO CLOSE TO COMMERCIAL OPS. PREFERABLY HAVE COMMUTER TFC FURTHER ABOVE US. I FLY THE LTT MYSELF AND THE APCH TO MEMPHIS INTL CAN BE MADE EASILY FROM 5000-6000 FT ABOVE COLONIAL AIRPARK INTO MEMPHIS.
