Narrative:

Was to maintain FL110, where as the supervisor then came on the radio and asked where I was going. I replied that I was direct to rud as per the SID. He suggested that I reread the SID and then cleared me direct to rud, but you could tell that I did not make his day and that he was mad. I then put the aircraft on autoplt and retrieved the SID from the copilot and saw that the SID had a hard deck of FL40 until a transition point and that I was to turn left after the marker and intercept a radial out of rud and follow it into the beacon, not direct as I had been briefed. This pilot is type rated in 2 slower turbojet aircraft, but not this one, and holds an ATP certificate. He should be able to read a SID. After this I discussed this with 2 of the other capts and found that this was not the first time that he has done this and that all the other pilots are not letting him do any navigation. I found out the hard way, but we are lucky that there was no traffic above us that day!
