Narrative:

Immediately following an medium large transport takeoff, O'hare tower told air carrier X taxi into position on runway 32R and hold. Be ready for an immediate takeoff. I had briefed for the right seat takeoff so first officer was not only completing the required checklist items, but mentally preparing for the takeoff. After the takeoff clearance was received we continued the rolling takeoff and checked takeoff power. O'hare tower then told us to abort the takeoff. First officer stopped the aircraft within a few ft. We then observed air carrier Y landing in front of us on runway 27R. The abort was executed in sufficient time so as not to be classified as a near miss. O'hare tower should never have given us takeoff clearance until air carrier Y had landed.
