Narrative:

I write this as a kind of last resort effort to resolve an ATIS frequency interference problem that has existed for many yrs. It suddenly occurred to me a short letter to NASA certainly wouldn't hurt, so I'll drop this in your lap. Any aircraft descending from high altitude westbound into maf must wait until they are inside of 70 NM nd below FL240 before even attempting to copy the maf ATIS. Why? Because the addison airport ATIS in dal blankets the frequency. This has been brought to the attention of every conceivable FAA person/office, but the situation still persists. Since no accidents/incidents associated with this problem have occurred in the 10 yrs I've been aware of the problem, I'm sure it's receiving minimal attention. I thought I'd stir the pot at your end and see what falls out.

Title: ACR PLT COMPLAINS OF ATIS FREQ INTERFERENCE AT MAF.

Narrative: I WRITE THIS AS A KIND OF LAST RESORT EFFORT TO RESOLVE AN ATIS FREQ INTERFERENCE PROB THAT HAS EXISTED FOR MANY YRS. IT SUDDENLY OCCURRED TO ME A SHORT LETTER TO NASA CERTAINLY WOULDN'T HURT, SO I'LL DROP THIS IN YOUR LAP. ANY ACFT DSNDING FROM HIGH ALT WBND INTO MAF MUST WAIT UNTIL THEY ARE INSIDE OF 70 NM ND BELOW FL240 BEFORE EVEN ATTEMPTING TO COPY THE MAF ATIS. WHY? BECAUSE THE ADDISON ARPT ATIS IN DAL BLANKETS THE FREQ. THIS HAS BEEN BROUGHT TO THE ATTN OF EVERY CONCEIVABLE FAA PERSON/OFFICE, BUT THE SITUATION STILL PERSISTS. SINCE NO ACCIDENTS/INCIDENTS ASSOCIATED WITH THIS PROB HAVE OCCURRED IN THE 10 YRS I'VE BEEN AWARE OF THE PROB, I'M SURE IT'S RECEIVING MINIMAL ATTN.
