Narrative:

I was working moderate traffic in the south portion of cmh airspace. Air carrier X was a southwest departure to the west off cmh. After climbing him above an overflt at 6000' westbound, I turned air carrier X southwest to 230 degrees and 10000', the top of my airspace. ZID had an light transport Y inbound from the southwest, nebnd level at 11000'. I knew that the light transport and air carrier X would level for some time if I didn't ask for higher for air carrier X. I had plenty of room for the climb and air carrier X was still in the climb. ZID approved FL230 for air carrier X. I acknowledged. ZID called back and asked me to give air carrier X 13000' instead. I acknowledged. Up to this point I had not given air carrier X any higher than 10000'. ZID called right back again and asked me to give air carrier X 12000'. I acknowledged. At this point I gave air carrier X 13000'. I don't remember doing this, but the tape said I did. I gave air carrier the frequency change to ZID. Before I switched air carrier X, I noticed the traffic that ZID was trying to avoid at 14000'. Perhaps this is why I said 13000'. Had trouble with the frequency change over and became a problem with crossing traffic for them. ZID descended the other aircraft when it became apparent to them that X was climbing to 13000'. They ended up with the sep needed, 1000' and 6 mi, but apparently no thanks to me. I think that if I had just handed X off at 10000' and let the center worry about when they were going to get him up and the other ones down, there would have been no system deviation.

Title: DEP CTLR ASSIGNED ACR X WRONG ALT AFTER TRACON ARTCC INTERFAC COORD.

Narrative: I WAS WORKING MODERATE TFC IN THE S PORTION OF CMH AIRSPACE. ACR X WAS A SW DEP TO THE W OFF CMH. AFTER CLBING HIM ABOVE AN OVERFLT AT 6000' WBND, I TURNED ACR X SW TO 230 DEGS AND 10000', THE TOP OF MY AIRSPACE. ZID HAD AN LTT Y INBND FROM THE SW, NEBND LEVEL AT 11000'. I KNEW THAT THE LTT AND ACR X WOULD LEVEL FOR SOME TIME IF I DIDN'T ASK FOR HIGHER FOR ACR X. I HAD PLENTY OF ROOM FOR THE CLB AND ACR X WAS STILL IN THE CLB. ZID APPROVED FL230 FOR ACR X. I ACKNOWLEDGED. ZID CALLED BACK AND ASKED ME TO GIVE ACR X 13000' INSTEAD. I ACKNOWLEDGED. UP TO THIS POINT I HAD NOT GIVEN ACR X ANY HIGHER THAN 10000'. ZID CALLED RIGHT BACK AGAIN AND ASKED ME TO GIVE ACR X 12000'. I ACKNOWLEDGED. AT THIS POINT I GAVE ACR X 13000'. I DON'T REMEMBER DOING THIS, BUT THE TAPE SAID I DID. I GAVE ACR THE FREQ CHANGE TO ZID. BEFORE I SWITCHED ACR X, I NOTICED THE TFC THAT ZID WAS TRYING TO AVOID AT 14000'. PERHAPS THIS IS WHY I SAID 13000'. HAD TROUBLE WITH THE FREQ CHANGE OVER AND BECAME A PROB WITH XING TFC FOR THEM. ZID DSNDED THE OTHER ACFT WHEN IT BECAME APPARENT TO THEM THAT X WAS CLBING TO 13000'. THEY ENDED UP WITH THE SEP NEEDED, 1000' AND 6 MI, BUT APPARENTLY NO THANKS TO ME. I THINK THAT IF I HAD JUST HANDED X OFF AT 10000' AND LET THE CENTER WORRY ABOUT WHEN THEY WERE GOING TO GET HIM UP AND THE OTHER ONES DOWN, THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN NO SYS DEVIATION.
