Narrative:

We filed an IFR flight plan for our trip ewr to rdu based on preferred routing listed in duat. On a previous trip, ATC told us new routing would be cyn direct ccv direct drive direct fkn argac 2 rdu from now on, and we programmed our vlfirst officermega RNAV unit with the new routing. Our clearance from newark was white intersection as filed. We used new routing, however must have filed the old one. There was no event other than ATC (ny center) asking what route we were flying and amending the route (in the future we will ask for a full route not as filed).
