On arrival profile into ewr, descending from FL240 to FL190, first officer noticed low oil pressure light on for #2 engine, so confirmed low oil pressure on his gauge and noted #2 oil quantity at 0. In accordance with. Checklist for loss of oil quantity, did precautionary shutdown of #2 engine. Declared emergency with ATC. Normal approach and landing with remaining 2 engines followed. Normal taxi to gate. Log book entry made. (Cabin crew notified after ATC.)
