The aircraft is an small aircraft that had been reconditioned by xy works into an small aircraft B. The aircraft was originally intended to be ferried from punta gorda, fl to switzerland. Due to concerns about the reconditioning by xy works, the ferry flight was terminated and the aircraft was being returned to xy works in punta gorda, fl. While at FL180 with ZBW, a variety of engine readings and engine roughness occurred. The flight was directed to islip, mac arthur airport. While descending through 6000', the aircraft engine again began operating properly and an uneventful landing was made. No problems could be found and at AM55 local I took off flying at 4000-6000' IFR to savannah, GA.

Narrative: THE ACFT IS AN SMA THAT HAD BEEN RECONDITIONED BY XY WORKS INTO AN SMA B. THE ACFT WAS ORIGINALLY INTENDED TO BE FERRIED FROM PUNTA GORDA, FL TO SWITZERLAND. WHILE AT FL180 WITH ZBW, A VARIETY OF ENG READINGS AND ENG ROUGHNESS OCCURRED. THE FLT WAS DIRECTED TO ISLIP, MAC ARTHUR ARPT. WHILE DSNDING THROUGH 6000', THE ACFT ENG AGAIN BEGAN OPERATING PROPERLY AND AN UNEVENTFUL LNDG WAS MADE. NO PROBS COULD BE FOUND AND AT AM55 LCL I TOOK OFF FLYING AT 4000-6000' IFR TO SAVANNAH, GA.
